Halloween magic comes alive at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom with Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! This family-friendly event offers a night of spooktacular fun, filled with special entertainment, delicious treats, and unforgettable experiences. Here’s everything you need to know for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2024.
1. Event Dates and Ticket Information
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will take place on select nights from August 9th to October 31st, 2024. As a separately ticketed event, it requires a special event ticket, which is not included with regular park admission or annual passes.
Tickets typically range from $119 to $199 per adult, depending on the date, with prices higher closer to Halloween. Discounts are often available for Disney Vacation Club members and annual passholders. Tickets can sell out quickly, especially for the first few parties and dates closer to Halloween, so it's recommended to purchase them as soon as they become available.
Party hours are from 7:00 PM to midnight, but ticket holders can enter the park starting at 4:00 PM, giving you an extra three hours to enjoy the attractions and prepare for the party.
2. Costume Guidelines
One of the most enjoyable parts of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is the opportunity to dress up! Disney encourages guests of all ages to wear costumes, but there are some important guidelines to follow to ensure everyone’s safety:
Costume Guidelines for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party
These guidelines are in place to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience. When planning your costume, consider the Florida weather—light, breathable fabrics are best. I have enjoyed Disney bounding, which is dressing to resemble a character using regular clothes. This can be by using the characters color scheme or a similar outfit to the character.
3. Special Food and Drink Offerings
Halloween-themed treats and drinks are a big part of the fun at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. In 2024, guests can expect a delicious array of snacks exclusive to the event. Here are some highlights:
Madame Leota's Seance Candle - found at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments
Tombstone Tart - found near the Haunted Mansion
Bowl of Bones - from the Friar's Nook
Queen of Hearts Slushy - at Cheshire Cafe
Food carts and quick-service locations throughout the park will offer these and other limited-time treats. Be Our Guest and Cinderella's Royal Table will have specialty items during the party as part of the table service offerings. Certain places, like The Plaza Restaurant will have Halloween themed treats during normal park hours as well as during the party. There is no shortage of delectables to try, but the lines can get long.
4. Character Meet and Greets
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a rare opportunity to meet some of Disney’s most beloved characters dressed in their Halloween finest. Special appearances by rare characters are a highlight of the event. In 2024, you can look forward to:
- Jack Skellington and Sally: Meet these popular characters from “The Nightmare Before Christmas” at Town Square Theater. Their meet-and-greet is one of the most popular, so plan to line up early!
- Mickey: Meet the host in his special Halloween costume at the Town Square Theater.
- Disney Villains: Keep an eye out for villains like the Queen of Hearts, Jafar, and Cruella de Vil, who make special appearances around the park.
- In years past, the 7 Dwarfs used to meet at Storybook Circus. However, this year you will find Minnie, Daisy, Donald and Goofy at Pete's Silly Sideshow.
Most of the characters only begin meeting guests once the party officially starts, but lines will start forming well in advance.
5. Ride Overlays and Attractions
Several of Magic Kingdom’s attractions receive special Halloween-themed overlays just for the party. These overlays add to the spooky atmosphere and offer a unique experience that can’t be found any other time of year. Highlights for 2024 include:
- Space Mountain: The ride goes pitch black with a new soundtrack, making for a thrilling and disorienting adventure through the cosmos. It feels so much faster in complete darkness!
- Mad Tea Party: This classic ride features new lighting effects and music, creating a madcap and colorful experience.
- Monsters Inc Laugh Floor: this attraction is actually a trick or treating spot. Get your candy and walk through or have a seat to enjoy some laughs.
Many of the park’s most popular rides will have shorter wait times during the party, making it a great time to enjoy favorites like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Peter Pan’s Flight, especially during the parade. Before the official start to the party is also a great time to enjoy attractions.
6. Trick or Treating
Trick or treating is a hallmark of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Guests of all ages can collect candy at designated trick-or-treat stations throughout the park. In 2024, these stations will be stocked with an assortment of sweets, sponsored by Mars Wrigley.
For those with food allergies, Disney provides allergy-friendly treats. Guests can pick up a teal-colored bag and receive special tokens at each treat location, which can be exchanged for allergy-friendly goodies at the Liberty Square Ticket Office or the Chamber of Commerce.
7. Special PhotoPass Magic Shots
Capture magical memories with unique PhotoPass Magic Shots available only during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Disney PhotoPass photographers are stationed throughout the park, ready to add a spooky surprise to your photos. Some of the special effects you can enjoy in 2024 include:
- Ghostly Hitchhikers: Get a photo with the iconic Hitchhiking Ghosts from the Haunted Mansion.
- The Headless Horseman: Pose as if you’re standing next to the Headless Horseman.
Magic Shots provide a fun and unique way to capture the spirit of the event and are available at various locations throughout the park.
8. Shows, Parade, and Fireworks
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is known for its spectacular entertainment lineup. In 2024, the following shows, parades, and fireworks are not to be missed:
- Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular: Held several times a night at Cinderella Castle, this show features the Sanderson Sisters from “Hocus Pocus” as they summon Disney villains for a night of wicked fun. With an electrifying mix of music, special effects, and performances, it’s a highlight of the evening.
- Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade: This parade is a must-see and is one of my favorites! Featuring Disney characters in Halloween costumes, the Haunted Mansion’s Hitchhiking Ghosts, and the spectral Headless Horseman leading the way. The parade runs twice each night, with the second showing typically a little less crowded.
- Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular: This fireworks show, hosted by Jack Skellington, features stunning projections on Cinderella Castle, a hauntingly beautiful soundtrack, and impressive fireworks. The story follows Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy as they go on a Halloween adventure, encountering Disney villains along the way.
These entertainment offerings are unique to the party and provide a perfect mix of fun and fright for guests of all ages.
Tips for Making the Most of Your Night
